Currently the car is selecting gears only when it feels like it. Getting neutral sometimes is only possible by turning the engine off and taking the key out then start the process again.

There is a possibility it is the actuator that will need to be replaced. Does anybody know if the one from the R8 is the same? Just trying to find out in case it is and is cheaper than buying from Lamborghini.

Sounds like the actuators to me... the RSC '07 Spyder was doing this before ours had to be replaced. I don't know if it is the same as the R8 though, sorry.

It has been confirmed to be the Actuator. Just had the quote from Lamborghini and it is an unbelievable amount for an actuator. Anyone know where to get used parts from? Been trawling the net but can't find much at all.

Have you tried the obvious? Europarts occasionally have some they're breaking, you might get lucky (or at least get on the waiting list).

Worth trying the US too, there's often cheaper parts available over there.

Would expect the Audi component to do exactly the same job, but there's so few people that will be able to confirm this, you may end up chasing your tail forever trying to find out.

There are exploded (excuse the pun) diagrams on eurospares, so at least you can have an idea of what the part looks like.

Yes have looked at Europarts, no price on site just says to call so will do that today. I did think about the US so will look into that later today, it's just getting the part here at the minute.

As for the R8 thought, I have quit on that as nobody seems to know and I can't find it searching google.

It is being looked at today to see if it can be stripped and repaired, fingers crossed on that one!

Hi Peter,

I am from the same little bit of Hampshire as you. I saw you in the Maser all the time but have never seen you in the Gallardo. Pics look good though.

They are being very helpful down at Emblem, they have the car. The problem started the day I took it down to them. Of course it didn't happen to them until after they had done everything else and I was hoping to get it back.

My 06 SE needed an actuator - about a month after I sold it. It just scraped in under warranty (being 22 months old) which was just as well as it too cost a fortune. The new owner was mightily relieved.

That was lucky. I have to say though it is the only thing to fail on the car in almost 4 years of having it. Well other than the roof deciding not to open or close but that has never needed any parts to fix.

That makes 3 Gallardo's I know of within a few miles. They are getting very common around here now!

£10k is a shockingly large amount, I hope you get it resolved soon.

I dont drive the Gallardo as much as I did the Maser, probably why you havent seen it. But saying that I have done 6000 miles since september!
