944 Turbo - High pressure power steering hose leaking
Discussion
Hi all
My 944 Turbo has sprung a leak from the high pressure line between the pump and the rack. The line itself is pretty chunky and appears to have a rubber shielding around it, at the end of this shielding between the pipe and shiled is wherethe fluid comes out.
Looking on the parts diagram it appears to be part number 944 347 447 02. Porsche Byfleet can get the part esily enough for £196 all in (which actually doesn't seem appalling considering the age of car, delivery time line, it being a main dealer etc) however I have spanked all my money on the car already. Normally I wouldn't worry and would just park the car up until pay day has come and gone.
However I am heading to the Ring in May I refuse to take my car onto a race track knowing that a bodge is holding oil in... so does any one have any thoughts? I couldn't find a non OEM part anywhere but maybe someone else knows more. How about having a pipe made up, or repairing this line itself? I am based in Egham, Surrey if that helps!
Before I commit to spanking more of the banks money at the dealership I just wanted to see if there are other options.
Cheers
Andy

I have a 944 turbo and all the three pieces of Power steering hose needed replacing.
I found this guy via Retro Rides - he made up some pipes for me via mail order (he knows sizes and shapes to bend the pipes) and got them to me for very reasonable price.
