hello there,
This is not exactly a need to know basis, but i was wondering...
I heard at one point that if you had a kit car that was only a re body, then you do not need to have an SVA/IVA test as it is classed as a body modification.
a few examples
1) If I got a Toyota MR2 and took off the body panels in exchange for Ferrari "look a like" ones but didn't change anything else, would the vehicle need an IVA?

2) More in particular, if I got a 2CV and stripped off the body and was left with the chassis, sus and engine all untouched and put a new, GRP body on it would that need an IVA? In the case of a Lomax 223 I know you would need an IVA because you modify the chassis and sus so it is a 3 wheel layout, but what about a Lomax 224?

For those who want to know more...
2CV

2CV without body

2CV with GRP body (aka Lomax 224)

As far as im aware you are correct, If you are using the original chassis, unmodified , you will not need IVA, you will probably need to notify DVLA thou

Agree with the above.
You should inform DVLA of the body type and possibly colour change and that should be that.

Would this not mean that it is registered on the V5 as a Citroen 2CV though?
I would have thought It would have to state Citroen Lomax or similar.
I know mine says Citroen Lomax Tricycle, but that is a 223. I Don't know if that differs to a 4 wheel version.
It seems to be a bit of a grey area...
