Hi all.

Ive been scouring the web for the past few hours in trying to find a 600mm deep side by side fridge freezer (the american style ones).

Reason for this is im looking to integrate it into the kitchen with a cabinet either side and a bridging unit above, I want it to sit flush with the two adjoining cabinets and I dont like the look of them when they sit proud from the units either side.

I can remove some of the dry lining behind to give another 30mm depth if need be but all of the ones ive looke at seem to protrude by around 8 - 10cm.

Can anyone assist me in finding one thats 600mm deep?

Thanks

The biggest problem you will find if you do locate a 600 deep unit is .....

The doors will foul on the cupboards either side as they attempt to open.

Comet allow you to compare by depth; appears the only one's which are 600mm are the Maytag - link to the 4 they stock here

Edited to add, John Lewis are cheaper, but they also have more details on the depth

Thanks for all the help so far.

Plover the AEG one would be ideal but the wine cellar would rarely get used and I would rather have a ice maker in its place, AEG do one with an ice maker which is 685mm deep - If this includes handles it may just fit.

Will try and find the zanussi one as well.

Thanks again!!

ETA the AEG one states 71cm depth on the brocure, Doh!

We are leaving a small gap either side to overcome this.

But yes you are correct the doors will not open the full 180 degrees, As long as it opens 90 degrees im happy smile

What about this AEG one S75578KG3

Looks like it's an older model, but states 60cm and seems fairly flat fronted.

they will not open 90 , thats what I mean to say . To open 90 you will need about 30mm clear space each side from the measurements of our "american " style fridge

Go and look at the fridges, see how much space you need to open the door, also consider that if the door doesn't open fully you may not get access to the salad draw or other part of the fridge/ freezer. It may be fine initially but when you live with it you will get pissed off if draws don't open etc.

Use the term, 'counter-depth' in your search. This should eliminate all of the inappropriately sized pieces.

As and when you fin the fridge your after, I'm assuming it will have a water filter as you want an ice maker.

Don't buy the filters from where you bought the fridge as there is a huge mark up on them.

Just google the ref. of which type of filter it is!

I get mine from ermmmm...... Pozzanni or something like that for £12. Currys wanted £60 and you had to buy them in 3's :-O

Hi Bud
i fit kitchens and like someone said please be aware you mostly need to open the doors more than 90 degrees to allow the draws inside the freezer side to open and also my american style has draws in the fridge which needs to open wider so make sure when designing the kitchen its not fitted into a corner . also dont know whether you have been told but with ice makers/chillers you need a water feed and waste away? mostly on 10mm pipes so its quite easy to hide
cheers

I currently have the same issue as the who sold me the kitchen assured me that we could just use our old fridge for now and upgrade to an american style fridge. Now we have got to that point, and there are no "american style" fridge freezers which are 60cm deep. They're all 72.5. fml.

Anyone got any ideas?

One of the best things about the comet website was to be able to filter appliances by width, depth and height. I don't know another site that does that now..
