I cant seem to find my paperwork for my divorce and as im not using a solicitor, i cant find the case reference number.

I spoke to the court today and they say they cant help without this number.

Anyone know of a way i can obtain the number?

thanks

Ask your ex? Alternatively go into the court in person, take some ID and ask very nicely. How long ago was the divorce?

Rhyl Court will give you a copy of the decree absolute for £5 if you have the case number or £40 if they have to look for it. You fill in a form with the date of the divorce and the names of the parties and they do the rest.

Can't imagine it would be any different elsewhere.

They should be able to ID it by the parties. Usually the court code is the easiest way mind BUT it is not the only way to identify a case reference.

Is you OH using solicitors? If so, check a copy of the documents they have sent to court as they will have the Case Reference on their letters. Or check a copy of the documents you have sent in ?

If, hypothetically, you were to fall far behind in child support payments, the court would not hear your ex's claim if you'd both lost the case reference number? Right...

You can ask the court to search based on the names of the people involved, you have to pay but it can be done.
