The odometer on my S2 appears to be stuck. The speedometer is OK and pretty accurate when compaired to GPS. Is there any easy fix!! Thanks

is it stuck with a 9 as the last digit?
Try driving and tapping the glass hard if so - they get stuck. Makes your limited mileage insurance go a long way biggrin

Thanks, you are right, it is stuck on a 9. Hadn't thought about the mileage aspect.

Interesting you say that - mine never works when cold - but after a few miles it starts to come to life (needle flickers up and down) and eventually works properly.

my oil pressure gauge is like that... takes about 4-5 miles of driving before it flickers and then gradually comes up to pressure ... its always a relief to see it start working... I have no idea what the scenery is like within a 4 mile radius of home as my eyes are on the gauge (with occassional glances at the road of course wink )

K hehe

I presume the sender isn't gunked up Kev - I guess you've had it out and fiddled with it eek

It's probably not the sender ( I replaced mine and it still does it). My view is it's down to the oil in the gear box. When I had ATF in there for a while it worked when cold. Now I've semi-synthetic back in it's back to normal. I don’t think there is any point in trying to figure out why, it’s just another one of those little quirks they have.

Fiddle-R-me Chris normally... But not this time wink
I think I just enjoy waiting for it... Sad really.

If it starts taking longer I might take a look

K wink

Its the speedo - probably a bit of crap electronic design means something has got a bit fried. Not unusual for electronics to suffer temperature related issues.
The speedo electronics are really crap with loads of bodgery so I'm not surprised.
I'm going to treat myself to a new speedo - see the top of the griff forum.

Andrew

The mileage is correct, its only done that once before & it clicks round after a couple of miles or a gentle knock on the glass.

Enjoy

I had this problem on my chimaera - apparently a common thing with them but this is the 1st time I've heard about it on an S. If tapping the speedo doesn't work deliberately drive over some cats eyes for a bit, always worked for me, just make sure there's nothing coming the other way first!

This is spooky stuff. My Odometer has been stuck since I bought it. I read BarkyChoc's comment about being stuck on the "9" and was sceptical - thinking that wont be the case with mine. Well - guess what! Its stuck on "9"!!!!.

Can't remember who said it but the tip was to drive along the cats eyes to make it move. Seems logical to me.

I will drive over loads of cats eyes before I give in and take the dash out again. Sounds a good tip.
