Hi all,

This is my first post on PH - just thought Id mention that smile

My Dad has just finished building a C7 Roadsport SV and I was looking to get him some of the carbon nose cone canards as a gift, but I really wanted to see what they look like on a Caterham first before I do, but I cant find a picture anywhere at all...!

Can anyone help? Either have a pic of them on a car or manage to find one for me before I go insane?

Thanks in advance smile

Hi shandy
Welcome aboard

Is this any use? Ours is a Superlight R300 SV, but you get the basic idea:

Try and get the angle rigbht otherwsie they wont be any good.....over 80 mph anyway, they were designed to prevent lift at high speeds along with the three other mods.

This might help:

Might even be someone on here's car!

ohhh yeah the angle is crucial

I have tested mine and they produce 78 grams of downforce

I did test them with another configuration and downforce droped to 58 grams

they work realy well ....... in so far as keeping flies off the indicator pods :-))

Did you share your findings with caterham and the guys at Mira, they might be interested.

no I didn't

I guessed they would see the absence of flies in the indicators and be pleased with the airflow too

I suspect that the Scottish contingent would have been delirious at the redirection of midges.

Hey, thanks for all the replies, they have helped me make my mind up - I want to order some but on the sevenspeed website it gives a small, medium and large option. Obviously all are different sizes, what is the reason for the size difference? Should I go for a specific size depending on the model of Caterham?

Ask 7 speed. They will advise as to what will suit your Dad's car

don't go too large or you may change the handling and end up with too much oversteer

arf !!! ;-)

So does the size just change the handling characteristics? Ie, any of the sizes will fit but each will feel different when driving?

Shandy, don't be under any illusion that these "aerowhiskers" do a great deal. They were part of an experiment in improving the aero that worked to some extent as a package, but on their own don't do much apart from look cool.thumbup They may add a slight kick up to the air passing round the sides of the nose, but not a significant amount.

I believe that's what Dave J is alluding to. Was 78g the weight of the whiskers? I know you mention that figure when anyone talks about them, so I assume it's one of your little gags biggrin

The other mods in the CSR package IIRC are the faired cyclewings, the bonnet vent and cowling for the radiator exhaust and the front suspension with aero wishbones and inboard shocks. Is that right?

There's a chin spoiler too. (A big numberplate also reduces lift wink )

From my pic you can see I cunningly tilted the huge standard sized plate backwards to act as an ideal splitterbiggrin

Lol, dont worry, I didnt think they would do MUCH, I just thought they looked damn cool! Gotta love a bit of carbon right!! I just dont want to buy the 'wrong' size, hence my question about what the best/right size to get is!??
