Most likely to be the sender on the wheel, I would imagine. Is the odometer/trip distance readout also not changing?

If you know someone with an OBD reader, that'll tell you whether the ECU is getting a signal.

S1's don't support OBD (as in std OBD)

as said though, usually the rear left wheel speed sensor has either become damaged (or the wiring to it) or has moved too far away from the CV mounted ABS relucter ring.

just thinking a bit more on this, the wiring for the speedo sensor is VERY close to the interta switch that your mad 'fixed' for the fuel pump problem.....

Oh OK. I thought all K-series ECUs did.

nope, Mems (as in used in the Elise) was never OBD(II) compliant, it's proprietary.

Interesting. I hadn't realised that they'd changed to a completely different ECU in the S2.

S1 used Rover supplied Mems,

S2 Lotus went to EFi for their own branded ECU (K4)

kambites, no the speed/distance meter does not work either, so is if not the wheel sensor can it be the gearbox switch, or speedo itself?

gearbox is not used, it runs of the rear left wheel.

if you pull the wheel off, then the brake disk, it's in-front of the upright, you can't miss is.

it's supposed to have a 0.5 to 1mm clearance to the (toothed) ABS ring on the CV
