TAG Heuer F1 - Battery replacement cost?
Discussion
Think my Tag F1 needs a replacement battery because the second hand is jumping in 4 second increments. Typically what sort of cost should it be to get the battery replaced and pressure tested?
I will be taking the watch into my local Goldsmiths (Oracle - Reading) for a quote tomorrow. Would prefere to get the battery replaced there and then rather than sending off for a 'service' at Tag.
Any advice welcome

All boils down to how water proof you want it to be, if you take it to Goldsmiths, etc, they may do it 'onsite' but will probably quote that it will not be water tight, they will want to send it away to be done 'properly' and this is IMHO silly money
I've never paid more than £5 for any of my quartz watches to have a new battery, I do have a friendly 'watch man' I take everything to though.
Frankly if you don't go diving in it and the wettest it gets is washing the pots I'd pop in my local jewellers and if they look like they know what they are doing I'd get them to do it, under the TAG case it's only a standard ETA movement thats in hundreds of things, and the batteries are pennys, in fact I'd almost be tempted to look on ebay for the tools and do it myself.....

Maplin sell what you need. Probably £8 for the case back removal tool and £2 for the battery. It makes sense if you're paying someone £50 and they are not even pressure testing it. For 25x the cost of a battery, I would expect it to be pressure tested to at least 50m.
Exactly this.I changed the cell on my Omega De Ville quartz myself, and I'm not knowledgable about watches in the slightest.

Pleased I saw this thread as it's reminded me to send my Tag F1 watch for a new battery. I only wore the watch a couple of times from purchasing to it stopping.I will be taking the watch into my local Goldsmiths (Oracle - Reading) for a quote tomorrow. I did exactly this on my Tag f1, took about 2 mins and I've worn the watch swimming several times since. Easy peasy.dolphins3 said:

My Tag has just started doing the same thing. I will be taking the watch into my local Goldsmiths (Oracle - Reading) for a quote tomorrow. Would prefere to get the battery replaced there and then rather than sending off for a 'service' at Tag.

However, I'm due to be out of the country from 17th December, and for quite some time, so I'm a little reluctant to send the watch off. I'm no watch expert at all, but just had a couple of queries if any of you guys could help at all.
I don't go diving or swimming or anything like that, but if it does get wet and is not pressure tested, what the worst that could happen to the watch? If saltwater got under the seal, can that nacker the insides? Or condensation under the glass face?
Cheers guys
