We live opposite a Co-op store and have done for about 15 years. Obviously they have deliveries and they used to start at about 6am with 7.5 tonne to artics, cages rattling up and down the pavement, back of lorries etc. All fine, it was there before we moved in and it is jolly convenient.

However, in the last few months something's changed and the first 7.5 tonne lorry is now arriving at 4:30am. This isn't for newspapers but proper groceries. Given it's a residential area is there an earliest time they can deliver?

Hmmm... ASBO or something? Don't think my neighbours would be impressed if I were making a racket at 4:30 a.m.

Perhaps having a word with the store manager could help?

Are they waking you up/'causing you distress'? You could have a word with the neighbours and seeing if they are annoyed too, as I'm sure the store would take more notice of a few complaints.

Would delivery times not come under planning controls, so check with local council's planning office.

In a built up area, reasonable times are usually from 7am IIRC in nuisance cases etc...

Find out which distribution centre serves them with their fresh produce and write a polite letter to the general manager in addition to a letter to the store manager.

If you don't get a response, try writing to the logistics team at head office.
