Lamborghini Diablo Question
Discussion
unless it's a VT then a 5.7 is four wheel drive as well... lol
5.7 until the SE30 and SV suffered from small brakes...it can make you breathe in hard sometimes.
SE30 limited edition rear drive, lighter and bit more power, purple was a fav colour.
SV introduced, cheaper, lighter, faster more powerful car, was facelifted halfway through its life, dash changed and headlights no longer pop up.
There was a roadster in there as well
All were replaced by the 6.0VT, this is pure lambo but has Audi bits to make it easier to live with. Shared lots of part with the very limited edition LHD only GT including the carbon panels. Best of the lot to drive (although I do have a huge soft spot for the old SV I had with short gearing but build quality was shocking next to a 6.0).

Please can anyone help me with Diablo ownership.Which is the one to own,5.7 or 6.0 and whats the difference between SE and VT? and whats are the running cost like? Thank you
I asked a similar question last year before purchasing my 99sv . Depends a lot on initial budget , an early Diablo you can pick up for around 45k , se for around 130k . A big differance in price and hard to justify the extra money from a driver perspective and rarity plays it's part there . The se a limited edition with extra hp and stripped out interior generally a lighter car . All are similar with the GT worlds apart but costing a hefty 200k ish . VT four wheel drive , SV two wheel drive . The 6.0 considered the better car to drive 80k /100k . But in truth all are good cars to drive . Design and looks are personal , I like the sv and roadster you'll pay a premium for the roadster , others like the 6.0 or se . Everyone likes the GT . Minor service around £1k major around £2k . Recently done a 350 mile run for £160.00 at steady 1-- mph . Around 13 mile to gallon , driving around town a lot less . There's better modern cars to drive for sure , but that's not the reason I bought mine . The engine noise and road presence , the looks the car gets . They are crazy cars and you'll love it . Find yourself a good one , service history etc , and a good dealer / seller . True the quality pre Audi days is slightly less , but that's forgotten when your're behind the wheel . Good luck .
6.0 by far the best car, enter diablo pete, everything he owns is better than anything else!!!!
If you go for a 6 make sure it has had certain things done (give me a call if you go for one I can then check those things)
had the 97 vt then bought the 6, I found that I no longer wanted to drive the 97
if you like 2 wheel drive there is the option of removing the front diff as some people have done

Some good cars here : http://www.topgear-cars.co.uk/showroom.php
Thanks for all the replies,(was expecting some scarastic replies).I actually was looking at buying a Scud or a 16M this time next year, but with the 458 on the market for good 12 months it makes the Scud look like 20 years older than it really is,also it will have an effect on its price. So been thinking why not go for a Diablo and then the question comes up which one.I read up on Wikipedia and that answred some of the questions, but nothing like you guys can.So I would like to own a Diablo in orange and must be a 6.0.I spoke to Top Gear cars in Scotland and asked about the black 6.0 VT,I asked him who did the last service and was told Mike Pullen of Carrera Sports and the previous owner was a guy called Keith.Anyone know any of the two? Also I understand the 2001 model comes with a sat nav and some extra toys, does anyone out there know if there is a orange RHD avalible?

There are Three RHD Orange 6VT's and 1 Orange GT, all 4 owners post on PH.Mike Pullen is very well respected in the Lambo scene.

Thanks for that information,so I guess I wont be a owner of an orange Diablo after all, what sort of price would one have to pay to own a 6.0 Diablo.I have seen an orange Diablo for sale in the Netherlands but LHD.Mike Pullen is very well respected in the Lambo scene.
... afaik, other than the cars that have been 'listed' above, there are a couple of orange 6.0 litre Diablos in the the UK, one is a VT and another is a near-perfect SE.
In addition, there are quite a few later specification 5.7 SV Diablos that are also orange. Some of those are in great condition and there is one at least that has been very properly used and hasn't been 'enhanced' with some Crassimo Maxxnoise exhaust pipes or any Blingorama Shiny-Shiny wheels. Also, that particularly cool car has been kept well away from i bulbi oculari del vicino analfabeti

The best thing I can add here is to say just the above and that I'll not be listing even part of the names of the owners of these cars, though some seem to think that's an acceptable thing to do on a public forum

I really wanted an orange 6.0, but went for purple in the end. As JDWCD said, the orange ones haven't been on the market for some time.
Fortunately the 6.0 looks good in pretty well any colour. Yellow, black and silver are all available at the moment. If you really want orange, you could go for one of those and wrap it.
