TVR Factory, really sad......
Discussion
Just got back from Blackpool on tour (as we Welsh often do!

) and dropped by the old factory just because it was close.
Its now turned into a gym and some of the buildings around the back are in the process of being demolished. Really sad to see. In the one pic you can see company notice boards still on the wall
See pics I took this morning. Note this will be one of the only times you will see me anywhere near a gym!

Yes its a real shame the factory is shut, but you didn't mention all the TVR related businesses that are operating from the site. You could have posted pictures of their sign boards instead of the gym.
Mrs Wheeler, I am sure, is just maximising the business potential of the site by developing it. After all, why have sub standard derelict buildings standing there when one could have something else.

Didn't have long at the site, seen Surface & Design but didn't notice many others.
They may be old buildings but its still sad. I have been around a few old factory buildings after they have closed and its always quite a poignant experience. People have spent their lives working in these places.

Mike, there are at least 5 TVR related business (that I know of) operating from there. It is a poignant experience visiting old manufactories but at the end of day its gone. The site needs to be developed into something workable where possible.
I, along side of approximately 1000 other TVR enthusiasts, tried to bring to the nations (and the governments) attention, the plight of the TVR workforce. That was 5 years ago. We failed in our quest so things must move on.
Good old Blackpool will always be the HOME of TVR though!

but yet they're thinking of giving Proton 20 million or so for not pulling Lotus out entirely. Seems to me they're business plan is doomed to fail as it is, why invest 20 million into another lotus expanded line up. We all know how the 70s experiment ended. It is sad to see the factory in this way.
Kind of an eriee feeling when all the wedges parked up outside there at BBWF 2009.
But as said by NTEL, there are some of the guys making a go of it in the ajoining units. Atleast there skill and craftmanship is still there for all of us to utalize should the need be.
I like to think we all have our own little TVR factory in our garages. Trying to make things better or in some cases just make things work!!!!
