I know what you’re thinking, not another replica 356 Speedster? Well, yes it is, but one with quite an interesting story.
You know when you are sitting in the pub with a group of mates discussing what would make the ideal car, or what would have happened if YOU had bought TVR? Well it seems a group of like-minded mates were doing just that recently, the only difference being these car enthusiasts had the means and the passion to turn idle banter into reality.
Tygan Motor Company has been formed by a group of successful businessmen and women who share a love for classic sports cars, and after collectively emptying their (rather deep)pockets onto the table they decided to buy the assets of the former Chesil Motor Company. Chesil became famous for their replicas of the 50’s icon the 356 based on Beetle components.
The new owners have already invested in new premises and manufacturing facilities meaning they can churn out twice the amount of cars every month and more importantly they have kept the original workforce in gainful employment. Graham Lee, Tygan’s Chairman, told us that they will become the dominant supplier of classic sportscar replicas in the UK and Europe. Brave words indeed and we wish him all the best.
The car will be offered with a choice of 1.8 or 2.0 air cooled flat four VW engines, twin carbs and independent rear suspension, It can be ordered as a two seater or a 2+2 and comes with a 12 month warranty in exchange for your £28,750.
PH hopes to drive one soon, and we’ll let you know how we get on
