If you’re the sort of person who looks at a Seat Leon ST Cupra and thinks 'that needs more carbon' then you’re in luck, because a limited-run Carbon Edition has been launched.
The new hot variant, of which just 50 are headed to the UK, is based on the top-of-the-range 300hp Leon Curpra estate and comes exclusively with a DSG automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive, so it can hit 62mph in 4.9sec.
The Carbon Edition gets new side blades, as well as a front splitter and rear diffuser, all made from you know what, saving – we’d estimate – about, er, 500 grams.
More significant is that all Carbon Editions come finished in Monsoon Grey and get Brembo performance brakes with calipers finished in red. They’re also produced with 19in alloy wheels and get a quad-exit exhaust system embossed with the Cupra logo.
Inside, Cupra seats are fitted as standard, while the rest of the cabin is unchanged from regular performance estate model – which is no bad thing really, as it mixes Volkswagen Group functionality with flashes of Latin red.
How much will one of these ‘Leon ST Cupras with a bit of carbon’ set you back then? £35,575, which makes the model £3020 pricier than a non Carbon Edition car with the same running gear. Although much of that increase will come thanks to the extra kit.
Want one? Don’t hang around, because Seat confidently predicts that every example will be snapped up as quickly as the 24 Leon Cupra Rs that recently sold out in Britain (and we put up against the Honda Civic Type R).
