One of our Sunday Service favourites has come and gone, sadly - the 2019 BMW SS was one of the best yet, and if you were squeezed just outside of the 'going' list this time, then make sure you're in there quick if we return next year! We'll try not to make you too jealous with this review in the meantime...
The day started off marvelously; I bimbled down in my little Twingo, out of quiet central London and down into Farnborough to greet the BMW staff in the glorious sunshine. Soon after arriving, the first PHers started descending on the multi-story car park, which incidentally is acoustically perfect for the variety of exhausts notes so often heard at our Sunday Services. By about 9:30, most people had parked up and it was about time to admire the cars making all the noise in the big parking block.
The ground floor is, as usual, reserved for the low stuff - read Ferrari 458 Speciale, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, a twin turbo Audi R8, Renault Sport Spider and so on and so forth. As you make your way up the ramps, you spot the more "usable" - but no less interesting - cars on show; here we had a whole host of fantastic BMWs (who'd have thought!) ranging from an E38 V12 7 Series and a fantastic teal-coloured 2002 to a super quirky Z1. BMWs weren't the only cars in attendance though, with a Corvette Stingray coming along, as well as a Lancia Delta Integrale and even a Renault Twizy! Potentially the star of the show though, was an unexpected visit by a stunning McLaren Senna.
Out front BMW had the new M8 on show, the M850i convertible, the bright yellow M2 Competition M Town Taxi and a gorgeous E30 M3, amongst others. Which leads us promptly onto what was indoors... BMW had very generously put some of its heritage fleet out on display, including the painfully pretty 507. Then if you made your way to the back of the building, there was a delicious breakfast to enjoy, free of charge and courtesy of BMW - what more could you ask for?
The event was done and dusted by around midday - the morning sunshine had burnt a few victims, the breakfast baps were gone and it was time to return to our families just in time for the end-of-weekend blues to kick in. We'd like to say a huge thank you to BMW for once again hosting a fantastic morning, and a special thanks to the kitchen team who were working tirelessly to get hundreds of breakfast baps served.
Our next Sunday (Saturday) Service is our track day at Oulton Park - you have the option to do the full day (£239) or 30-minute taster sessions (£40 each), and also space for 400 cars outside of the track time, so come along and watch! Full details here.
