Clearly the build-up to this one is going to be less than speedy. We're already on the third or fourth stage of 'teaser' - and Brabham hasn't even treated us to the traditional shadowy snap of its first car yet. Still, with the automotive brand ostensibly in gestation since 1960, they've earned a bit of a run up.
As time passes, things are also getting a little bit more dynamic. We've previously heard the BT62 running - now we get to see it howl past a video camera. What can we take from it? Well, aside from the fact that it's probably a V8, and clearly not on the slow or quiet side, not much.
Naturally we've had fun with some pausing the footage in the right place, but that only reveals a silvery blur. Is the blur redolent of a Le Mans prototype? Possibly. Although David Brabham (son of Jack, and the new firm's managing director) has always suggested that the car would be road legal - if uncompromising in "performance, handling and driver involvement".
"Since my father first took to the track in 1948, the Brabham philosophy has always seen drivers extract every ounce of available performance from their cars, and themselves. That same spirit lives strong within Brabham Automotive today, and its first project, the Brabham BT62, honours the legacy of the cars that have previously carried the iconic Brabham name."
We won't have too much longer to wait either; the company adamant that the car is all but finished and ready for its global debut on May 2nd. Which gives Brabham less than six weeks to keep us on the edge of our seats. Can we request a photo of the badge next, guys?
