Stuck for something to do tomorrow? You could do worse than heading along to Classic Car Auction's first sale of 2016, held at The Warwickshire Exhibition Centre. Just ensure you set a bidding limit though, because there are some very tempting cars...
Fast Ford fan? There's plenty to look out for. The
Sierra Cosworth
featured on Top Gear, for example, still with just 81,000 miles and an MOT until next March. Or there's an
Escort RS2000
, looking very cheap at £9,000-£11,000 because of a missing history. Fortune favours the brave, right? Finally this
Sierra XR-8
is a real rarity, and goes to auction with an estimate of just £8,000-£10,000.
BMW is well represented too, with this glorious 728 a particular highlight. So basic it only comes with one door mirror, it looks superb in green. Continuing the theme is an Oxford Green E34 M5 3.8, fully resprayed and scoring 108/135 in CCA's condition report. With 175,000 miles, it's expected to sell for between £5,000 and £7,000.
For those after an early-90s supersaloon that isn't an M5, there's a choice of two Mercedes 500Es; take your choice between black or silver! Both from the same year and with similar estimates, the bidding should be eager on both.
Need more? There's celebrity interest with Elton John's
Maserati Quattroporte
, a Japanese rarity with a recently restored
Toyota Supra manual
TVR Tamora
that has a lower estimate below £20K... Don't forget the
Impreza P1
But we'll finish on a couple of retro hot hatches. Both the Lotus Sunbeam and Strada Abarth are seldom seen nowadays, so to see both at auction is a real treat. The Strada in particular is very nice, having covered less than 9,000 miles and apparently just "a little time and effort" away from being back on the road. See what we meant about tempting? Don't say you weren't warned!
