German tuner Geiger has taken Chevrolet's Corvette ZR1 and tweaked it to a heady 710hp, combining the extra power with some extrovert body-mods designed to emphasise the fastest Chevy's performance potential.
Chevy itself has taken a relatively low-key approach to the ZR1 visual package - limiting the obvious changes to a carbon roof with exposed weave and a polycarbonate 'viewing panel' in the bonnet. Geiger obviously feels the ZR1 should make a stronger statement and has modified the car accordingly.
The front and rear views have been extensively remodelled, with a wide air vent on the nose and a dirty great diffuser at the rear, while the front fog lamps and tail-lights have been converted to LEDs. Geiger also offers a set of side skirts, while wheels and tyres are 285/30ZR19 at the front and 345/25ZR20 at the rear mounted on 10 x 19 inch and 12 x 20 inch light metal wheels by OZ Racing.
The engine upgrade seems subtle by comparison, and the combination of 710hp at 6,600rpm and 677lb ft from 4,200rpm hasn't affected the 0-62mph sprint time, which remains at 3.6secs - traction presumably being the limiting factor. Max speed has gone up a little though - the Geiger ZR1 will apparently crack 214mph.
