This is the new Nissan GT-R GT3, which has jointly been developed by Nismo and JR Motorsports and which has just completed its first competitive event - at Magny Cours in France.
Although the infamous Godzilla also runs in the super GT series in Japan and the FIA GT1 world Championships, that's with V8 power, whereas that GT3 GT-R has much more in common with the road car (well, it runs a turbocharged V6, but is rear-wheel-drive only).
The GT3 endurance marketplace is getting pretty crowded these days, what with the McLaren MP4-12C, Mercedes SLS and even the new Aston V12 Vantage looking for a slice of the action, but it's always good to see healthy manufacturer interest in a sport, and Nissan's entry can only be a good thing.
Seems as though all went well, too, with drivers Richard Westbrook and David Brabham taking 8th place out of a 35-car field in the Blancpain Endurance Series race, despite only managing to start 18th. All bodes well for the 2012 GT3 season, we reckon...
