Can you believe there’s less than a month to go until this year’s PistonHeads Annual Service powered by Michelin? We certainly can’t, mainly because there are still ‘i’s to dot and ’t’s to cross before we open the gates to thousands of PHers at Bicester Heritage on 10th August. What we can announce, however, is the fantastic lineup of speakers who’ll be entertaining us throughout the day on our snazzy new live stage.
As you may remember, we dusted off the jumbotron and set up our very own outdoor cinema, hay bales and all, for our 25th anniversary event 12 months ago. But we wanted to outdo ourselves for this year’s Annual Service, and because we couldn’t find a bigger screen we’ve decided to put on a live show instead.
And what a show we have in store. As we announced a few weeks back, Jonny Smith (of The Late Brake Show and many other things) will be on stage with an incredible never-before-seen Porsche 356 Speedster barn find, plus we’ll have Dave Eaton and his home brewed 917 along to go over how he took it from a ‘canoe’ to a road-legal Le Mans legend. Meanwhile, Motorsport UK will be on hand to provide some helpful tips on how to make your racing dreams a reality, while former pro-driver-turned-YouTuber Scott Mansell (aka Driver61) will run you through his plans to drive a formula car upside down. Yes, really.
Speaking of incredible feats, Joe Achilles recently drove from Tangier (in Morocco, not Tangiers Pembrokeshire) to London on one tank of fuel in an old (but surprisingly good nick) diesel Volkswagen Passat. On the newer side of things, we’ll be digging into the future of the lightweight sports car with those who build them best, and there’ll be a panel discussion on the performance car market in 2024. Finally, our friends at The Intercooler will host a live podcast recording with special guest Max Girardo. Here's the full stage schedule:
