The Essen motor show is not one that typically features on PH's news radar, but this year is slightly different thanks to a new range of Ford Performance accessories.
The focus - no pun intended, honest - is on the Drift Stick revealed recently, although there's far more to be interested by. There's an argument to say they're rather more useful too... Developed with Roush, Borla, KW and Remus, there are suspension kits, exhausts and wheels available for the upcoming Fiesta ST, both fast Focuses and each of the Mustang models too.
So there's a coilover set for the Mustang and Focus ST, offering a 40mm ride height drop plus adjustable rebound and compression damping. New 'Performance Premium light alloy wheels' will be available on all models and are designed to work best with that suspension kit. And the 10-spoke rims are offered in 17-, 18- and 19-inch diameter.
Mustang customers have more serious options to consider though. On top of a short-shift kit for the manual, there's a Borla exhaust and three 'Mustang GT Performance Calibration Power Packs'. However the release only currently details a rev limit rise to 7,500rpm - and it's not homologated for road use.
For those with even loftier aspirations, Ford Performance has also today launched a supercharger kit; developed with Roush, it lifts the 5.0-litre V8 to beyond 600hp. Again, however, it's not homologated for road use. Let's hope that's a 'not homologated for road use... yet'.
What's definitely road ready though, is the range of Ford Performance gear knobs. So whatever your budget for modifying a new fast Ford, there's something for you. Fabio Carafa, Ford Europe's vehicle personalisation director, said of the components: "Ford Performance customers - some of the most competent and knowledgeable drivers out there - are telling us they want to further personalise the driving dynamics, performance and style of their vehicles. We've specifically developed our Ford Performance Parts portfolio to meet that need."
If you are one of those competent, knowledgeable Ford Performance drivers, the new parts are available to order now and can be fitted at a Ford dealer. All upgrades are warrantied, as well. You're still going for the Drift Stick, right?
