Everyone loves a fast Ford, don't they? A time honoured combination of potent performance, motorsport success and relative affordability has created a fast Ford flagship for every generation. Fiestas, Escorts and Focuses have for decades enthralled fans young and old, a reputation now reflected in their used values.
But that's a discussion for another time, because now is an opportunity to celebrate one of the most iconic - the Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth. With less motorsport notoriety than the three-door Cossies, the Cosworth saloon hasn't quite hit the heady heights in terms of value that some have. On the other hand it doesn't mean that Sapphires like this one - owned by PHer 'RS Grant' - is still out being used and not holed up in a collection to protect its value.
As a committed fast Ford nut, Grant has enjoyed his fair share of STs and RSes over the years. However, it wasn't until just a fortnight ago that he was able to purchase a Sierra, evidently a car that's been on his mind for a good few years.
A rare Moonstone Blue Cossie, Grant's rear-wheel drive Saph has covered just 72,000 miles since reaching its first owner in 1989. While modified - this is a fast Ford, after all - there's plenty of stuff you'd like to see: bigger turbo, better suspension, uprated brakes and so on. As a former show car, this Sierra has also been treated to recent chassis strip and repaint.
Understandably then, Grant is pretty pleased. Immediate plans include raising it up slightly on the Spax suspension, and potentially switching the wheels as well, though hopefully you'll agree that it's looking pretty much spot on already. It's a car to keep an eye on, that's for sure, as many PHers already are - join the thread here. And congratulations Grant!
