Sheds, both those that deserve to be celebrated every Friday and those that should be put out of their misery, are getting rarer. Scrappage schemes, a more disposable car culture and ever-changing trends mean more and more cars are being left behind. Which, while they're not all underappreciated classics - very far from it, in some cases - seems a bit of shame. Because what's different and unknown is interesting, even if its best days might be behind it.
Which is what makes this thread from PHer 'Retrosh*te' so interesting. As a man who will "exclusively buy and drive sheds", but who is also a welder by trade, his 'Art of Shedding' thread features some long-forgotten cars. Some have simply been moved on, often for more than was paid for them, though sometimes his skills have been called into action to bring cars back from the brink. And in some instances he's bought a very dodgy Ford Ranger which had to be abandoned on the way home. Can't win them all...
The variety in this thread is just incredible, and is understandably attracting attention (13 pages in less than two months). Where else might you see seven Peugeot 305s in an ownership thread, Subaru Brats being stripped for £2,000 in parts, a Mk4 Golf exchanged for a Vauxhall Chevette and 100 per cent profit being made on a Citroen Xantia? The, er, treasures just keep on coming, and the stories of buying, selling and fixer-uppering are well worth reading. Current projects include a 305 that isn't in the pic above - we did say there were a few - as well as vans, classics and plenty more besides...
