Here we are in July already! It's British Grand Prix weekend,
LM Classic
weekend and there's still a wealth of great motorsport to look forward to this summer.
This week as well on PH we've driven yet another Mercedes AMG, taken a Jaguar over to the Nurburgring and chatted with Stirling Moss about Formula 1. Catch up on everything here!
Pretty car, pretty quick too
The Mercedes CL has been replaced and the
S-Class coupe
has returned. This week PH has driven the S500 and S63 AMG, plus received an insight into the latest
active suspension tech
Amazingly the 585hp AMG wasn't the most powerful car to make the PH news since Monday. With 707hp and 650lb ft, the new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has moved the muscle car power war on again. As you can see, it makes for rather good burnouts too...
At the more sensible end of the power spectrum, the 170hp Alfa MiTo Cloverleaf review went live on Monday. Unfortunately it isn't up to the standard of its exceptionally talented rivals, an almost identical scenario to the Giulietta. Ever so slightly more powerful at 204hp, the MG 3 Trophy looks like it could be an intriguing hot hatch wild card, as long as MG drop the race car idea.
How do you get from Juke R to Q50? Find out here!
This week was the also the time to reflect on another excellent Festival of Speed. See the
video highlights
PH blog
for all the insight. You may have seen the
PH BMW M4
blast up the hill too. More from that soon.
One car we hope to see battle the M4 soon is the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge. A prototype ran up the hill and Dan spoke with project leader Jerry Hardcastle to discover more about it.
The Bentley GT3-R got its official reveal at Goodwood, a car that promises to be the most driver-focused Bentley yet. But if you want a big British V8 coupe with forced induction, how about the old Aston Vantage? Still a rather cool (and very fast) car over 20 years after its launch.
Moss's first F1 season was 60 years ago
PistonFest
is now less than a couple of months away and this week we were able to confirm the final line up of activities. Fingers crossed for the weather eh?
As part of PH's visit to the Maserati centenary exhibition, we had a few minutes to chat with Sir Stirling Moss. That's an interview well worth reading.
We've lost a member of the PH Fleet this week, the Mini Clubvan returning after a year of dutiful service. New cars are on the way... Our other Fleet feature was on Jon's GSX-R1000 and his interesting trip to the TT.
Since Monday there's been a new Dream Drive, another BTCC reporter and the first details of James Glickenhaus's latest project. Finally don't forget to check out POTW from Dan's 'ring trip, Shed's oddball hot hatch and Matt's report from the first Academy race. More next week!
