Touring cars aside, the link from circuit racers to road cars is usually tenuous and limited to the branding on the carbon fibre bodywork. Rallying is different though. Here, no matter how exotic the hardware, the cars at least resemble stuff you can drive yourself, offering us the ability to own a car but one genetic link from those competed by rallying heroes from Paddy Hopkirk to Colin McRae.
Even in the crazy days of Group B - regarded by many as the pinnacle of the sport - homologation rules meant manufacturers had to build at least 200 road cars to compete. OK, so they were toned down a tad for the street. But which other brand of motorsport has inspired so many classic road cars? Audi, Lancia, Ford, Subaru, Talbot, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Peugeot, Renault - even Skoda - all have built some truly fantastic rally-influenced road cars.
Which is your favourite though? Join the thread and tell us here.
