Living a life of luxury can be hard work, full of first world problems. Where do I moor the yacht? Why doesn't the restaurant stock my favourite champagne? And so on. Super yachts are fascinating creations, considered to be the ultimate status symbol for the rich and famous. It isn't as simple as buying a house after all; a yacht has to be meticulously maintained, a berth has to be purchased in favoured holiday destinations and it has to be fuelled. And it needs a crew. Crew members man the yacht day-in, day-out, keeping it well stocked and ready to go at a moment's notice.
Some of the maintenance bills are eye-watering and there are a few individuals that don't have only one or two, but a fleet of super yachts peppered around the world. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has five yachts, known to players as the Abramovich Navy. The Eclipse pictured is the world's largest private yacht and the second most expensive, costing $700 million.
