PHers dream about owning and driving their favourite supercars and the McLaren F1 is surely high up on the list for many. A few are lucky enough to actually do that. Autocar called it "the finest driving machine yet built for the public road." It was considered the fastest car in the world with a recorded speed of 241mph until it was surpassed by the Veyron in 2005. With the limited number of cars available
pushing values sky high
, replicating the design may be the way forward.
Crosseyedlion set himself the monumental task of replicating McLaren F1 parts through CAD that he has thoroughly researched for a new project since his TVR is nearly complete. He doesn't want to build the whole car, but manufacture a few parts that could be used in the future.
He started on the pedal box and by studying the diagram he got a rough idea and started designing it in Solidworks. So far the brake and clutch pedal have been designed with the former three times stronger, even though it weighs 363g.
It is quite the project and, hopefully, we will see machined parts by the end of it, but if you want to keep up with this CAD build check it out here.
