Ever wondered how World Rallycross drivers keep busy during the winter months?
As of last weekend the World Rallycross Championship is now firmly over for 2018, leaving the series' drivers with plenty of extra free time on their hands. But there's no rest for the wicked, and nor, evidently, is there any for those of us who get to spend their weekends going sideways in a 600hp supermini.
Instead Team Peugeot Total drivers Sebastien Loeb and Timmy Hansen - fourth and sixth respectively in the 2018 standings - have been enticed back behind the wheel for a new Red Bull Motorsports video, filmed on l'Alpe d'Huez, a scenic stage from the Tour de France. Although for this closed-road run, there's not a cyclist in sight, leaving the nine-time world rally champion Loeb and 2015 WRX runner up Hansen with all 21 corners to themselves.
We're not entirely sure why they're there - aside from fulfilling contractual obligations - but we shan't complain, because between the occasional sped up clip and camera rattle, there's some proper rally driving going on. Handbrake turns, cocked rear wheels and Scandi flicks - they're all there. Hansen even gives Loeb a love tap through a hairpin, in true WRX racing tradition. Bring on 2019.
