I nipped over to Castle TVR in Stansted, Essex today to
take a look at the UK's newest TVR dealer. I wasn't expecting much, just
another dealer, another bunch of cars and perhaps a cup of naff coffee.
I was rather pleasantly surprised however.
You may not think it's the best time to open a new sportscar dealer
at the moment, but given the investment in this new venture there are
some businessmen that certainly think otherwise. With input from both a
coachworks experienced with TVRs and from Giles Cooper at the TVR Centre
it may be a new venture, but it's not without considerable expertise to
draw on.
The premises are most impressive with a large gravel courtyard to
park in upon arrival and the stock parked around the edge under large
canopies. The workshop is in full view, with the ramps set in front of
the paintshop that forms part of the onsite bodyshop facilities. Few
dealers in the country can compete with these new, modern, spacious and
comprehensive facilities. The coffee wasn't bad either.
Based in Stansted overlooked by Mountfichet Castle (hence the name)
it's well placed to serve Essex and Cambridgeshire, areas in which
owners have had to travel far afield for TVR facilities in the past.
Situated only minutes from the M11, around the corner from a station and
with free loan cars available (new Suzukis), Castle TVR are well placed
to make the task of getting your car serviced, repaired, resprayed or
upgraded a breeze. I think we can expect rather more TVRs to be driving
around Essex and Cambridgeshire in the next few years.
