"If you're looking for something completely unadulterated, this really is the Nth level of rawness." So begins Petrolicious's latest ode to specialness - and we could think of no better introduction to a plainly lovely 1991 Jaguar XJR-15, Tom Walkinshaw's diehard idea of a racecar for the road.
The trailblazing nature of the XJR-9 conversion is well established - its carbon fibre and kevlar chassis/bodywork narrowly beating the McLaren F1 to be come the first road car to be built exclusively from such expensive composites - as is its colossal (and very cool) rawness. Any car that comes with its own intercom system to allow conversation over the all-pervading wail of a mid-mounted V12 has to be high on anyone's list of fantasy buys.
For Jasbir Dhillon, when the opportunity to own one of just 27 road-spec cars came up, he was already far too smitten to let it pass. Naturally he and the car have a great story to show and tell - although we'll admit to being equally moved by Mr Dhillon's sentiment about how a passion for cars can transcend any boundary of race or nationality, and often result in lifelong friendships. Doubly well said, sir. Enjoy.
