We all know that personalisation is a big part of selling new cars in 2016. From the launch of the new Mini in 2001, the popularity of buyers being able to add their own unique touch to a car has grown hugely. Now Lotus is getting in on the act, with the launch of Lotus Exclusive.
Can we have this please Lotus?
Described as allowing "a comprehensive array of personalisation covering everything from colour through to race car preparation", the Exclusive programme is open to new customers and existing owners. There are additions to the colour chart to begin, inspired by historic road and race Lotuses. So there's Essex Blue for example, as seen on the Esprit Essex Turbo of 1980. Beyond the standard palette, Lotus Exclusive will offer a colour matching service with matt, gloss, metallic or pearlescent options. Like B&Q for your sports car. What to choose with near limitless possibilities? Rebel Blue works pretty well on fast Volvos, so how about a Lotus? Could suit an Exige nicely...
Body decals are offered also, with the option to highlight mirrors, sills, wings or spoilers in a range of colours. Want racing stripes? There four colours and three styles. Oh yes, and national flags other than the Union Jack are available.
On the inside, Exclusive is offering five suggested leather colours and four stitching shades. The white with red here would work very well with Essex Blue for the full 80s throwback, right?
The Lotus Exclusive options are available now on all Lotus models, with expansion into regions beyond Europe as 2016 progresses. And now we invite you to share some ideas; it's nearly the weekend after all. How would your Lotus Exclusive Lotus look? Fire away...
