"An ode to decadence, to frivolity, to heady heydays and irreverent past times," that's how Rolls-Royce describes its new Dawn-based Silver Bullet Collection. Said to draw its inspiration from the glamorous roadsters of the 1920s and the "bright young things" who drove them, the Silver Bullet treads much the same path as Bentley's recent Bacalar, trading the standard convertible's rear seats for a prominent Aero Cowling and vapour-blasted titanium windbreak.
This is joined by a newly commissioned ultra-metallic silver paint, contrasting dark front bumper finisher with darkened headlights and a set of part-polished wheels. A silver 'centre spine' connects the car's new exterior to its cabin, wherein buyers will find a series of "alluringly tactile" features including an open-pore carbon fibre fascia and a leather jacket-inspired quilted transmission tunnel.
There's no word on what to expect beneath that enormous bonnet, but the uprated 6.6-litre, twin-turbo V12 found in the Dawn Black Badge would seem an appropriate fit - it's tuned to produce an extra 30hp and 15lb ft over the standard car's powerplant, for total outputs of 600hp and 620lb ft of torque.
Limited to just 50 examples, owners of the Silver Bullet will also gain access to a series of specially curated road-trips via Rolls-Royce's customer-only Whispers app. These will give the kinds of "non-conformists and pleasure-seekers" who buy what otherwise seems like a rather appealing take on the already-excellent Dawn an appropriate idea of what to do with their new car. We doubt those bright young things would have needed such guidance...
