Range Rovers, everyone loves them don't they? OK so the new ones split opinion with their added glitz and the ever increasing popularity of adding huge wheels and, er, tasteful styling options. However, the Range Rover Classic is an absolute belter in my opinion.
I have a tendency to go for a SOTW that has classless appeal and the early RR is probably the best example of that I can think of. Heading to a shoot in the highlands with landed gentry? Take this and no one will bat an eyelid- assuming you are old school money. Park one on a rough estate- it will be there in the morning. Burble through the city in a suit and people will assume you are on the way to the office, or maybe you're a gangland boss and have a body in the boot? Drive one of these and it says everything and yet nothing about who you are.
I want one of these right now, well I always have but with everyone telling me that I shouldn't drive a 4x4 and that I should be concerned with my carbon footprint I want one even more.
Looking through Autotrader I found this beauty. True, the ancient V8 will not win me any power competitions, it will probably rust away before my very eyes, and purists will mock its velour interior and manual gearbox but for £800 you can't complain. It's only covered 120,000 miles and has had a few bits done too, such as a new headlining and cross member. The seller will even throw in some pedestrian- unfriendly bullbars, pure political incorrectness. I love it.
