Last summer we attended the Heveningham Hall Concours, hidden away on 'Horsepower Hill' in a 5,000-acre estate during the Heveningham Hall Country Fair. It was a long old trek from London to near enough Norwich, but completely worth it. The event featured rows of cars split into different classes going up the levels of the aforementioned Horsepower Hill, and it's safe to say no matter which direction you looked, there was something exceptional!
The first thing to grab our attention was understandably a matching McLaren P1 GTR and F1 GTR, the latter being the famous Harrods liveried 06R. Not a bad start by any means, and as this was clearly the race car row of the hill, naturally there was also a Porsche 917, Ford GT40, and Mercedes Benz CLK GTR LM parked nearby for good measure!
Further up the hill sat proudly the likes of the Ferrari 250 SWB, 288 GTO, Porsche 959, and Lancia Delta S4. A pair of Lamborghini Miuras, both an SV and the extremely rare Jota SV were on display next to a pair of Bugatti EB110s, both the GT and SS variants. Not too shabby at all.
At the very top of the hill sat a LaFerrari and its topless sister the LaFerrari Aperta, watching over all of the slower, older, less valuable (maybe not in every instance) cars beneath, however, lurking in the trees above was a one-of-eight Bugatti Veryron Grand Sport Vitesse WRC. Perhaps to remind the LaFerraris who's on top, in terms of power at least...
Elsewhere, dotted around what could be argued to be one of the best garden parties of all time were, in no particular order, a one-of-six Mercedes Benz CLK GTR Roadster, Ferrari 212, Ferrari 250 MM, Jaguar C-X75, Audi R8 (2000), Jaguar D-Type, and a Bugatti 57 Ventoux. Even by concours standards, this event pulled some seriously heavy punches, so much so, that it was actually a personal highlight of the automotive calendar!
Great news then, that the Heveningham Hall Concours returns for 2018 this weekend, from the 30th June - 1st July! Having caught a glimpse of this year's entry list, it's absolutely worth a visit if you're in the area, or even if you're actually really quite far away!
