As you’ll have read earlier this week, Porsche has unveiled its latest
911 RSR
the 991
, and just in time for its debut at the opening round of the WEC at Silverstone this weekend. It'll be the second racer based on the 991, following on from the
Cup version
of the 911 which made its debut toward the end of last year.
'911 50' livery is rather neat
Form undoubtedly follows function here, but that’s probably just one reason why it looks so good. And, we reckon, at its best from the rear, where the lower half of the bodywork’s been savagely cut away to make room for an aggressive diffuser, and the 991’s slim taillights only serve to exaggerate the squat stance and width of the RSR. And with the 911’s
50th birthday
celebrations well underway, the rather cool ‘911 50’ livery – yes, that’s the special anniversary logo extending right across the top of the car – should come as no surprise.
Fancy seeing it in the flesh? Well, Silverstone awaits. We’ll be there, talking to Wolfgang Hatz again and enjoying the debut of the latest in a long line of fabulous RSRs.
