Who doesn't love hearing about a thorough restoration project? Nobody, that's who. And Porsche GB has been getting onto the bandwagon that already seems to have spawned about 62 different TV series with the second running of its Classic Restoration Competition.
Last year's winner before...
The premise is as simple as the name suggests. The competition is open to all Porsche Centres in the UK, and they must find and restore a needy Porsche in time to be judged before the Classic Motor Show in November. This year, to mark 40 years since the 911 Turbo's introduction and the launch of the latest Targa, all entrants must either be turbocharged or feature that not-quite-a-cabrio roof.
You can see a few of the entrants (there are 16 in total) below. There's a great selection with 911 Turbos represented in 930, 993 and 996 flavours, plus some 924s and 944s. Plus tired Targas from the 70s to 90s.
The winning Porsche Centre will be awarded a trip to Camp4, which sounds like it should be surrounded by barbed wire but is in fact Porsche's winter driving experience centre in Finland. All the restored cars will be shown at the NEC show in November and the judging is at Brands Hatch this Sunday.
