When was the last time you saw a VW Polo G40? Must be a while ago now, given the car's age and rarity. So when this delightful supercharged Polo, belonging to PHer jonvw84, emerged in Readers' Cars, we knew special status had to be bestowed upon it. Because everyone loves a hot hatch curio, right?
With previous experience of V6 and GTI VWs, Jon took the plunge last year to take on a G40. On collection it was already lightly modified - EBC pads, H&R suspension and an uprated charger - which Jon has been adding to over the past 12 months. So far that's included - but isn't limited to - some new wheels, a different exhaust and some replacement body parts.
The latest update from Jon and the G40 saw it sent to the MOT station, where sadly it failed because of some rust. However, it looks like that's being sorted out, and the car being prepped for a summer of shows and roadtrips. Credit where it's due to a diligent enthusiast for keeping a rare and interesting hot hatch on the road - we're loving your work Jon!
With the thread just few pages long, this is an easy one to catch up on during a lunch break. We think it's well worth investing the time too because, after all, it's not every day you see a Polo G40. Great effort Jon, we look forward to seeing what happens with the car next.
