Yes, the Toyota Land Cruiser is very much still on sale. It's a bizarre range, the Toyota one, comprising models as worthy and dull as the Auris and Verso yet also featuring the GT86 and the Land Cruiser. The latter is hardly a firebreather with its 174hp diesel, but its honest and dependable reputation has earned it a certain amount of respect.
You must do this as a Land Cruiser owner
Playing on its tough and durable nature, this is the Land Cruiser Invincible X. It's the new range-topping Land Cruiser - more on that in a sec - but also the most capable model off-road. To that end it has 215mm of ground clearance, a 700mm maximum wade depth and the ability to climb 42-degree slopes. The Invincible X also gets a Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, tweaking the anti-roll bar settings both on- and off-road with the aim of "suppressing body roll and improving steering response." The ABS has multi-terrain settings, while four off-road modes - Mud and Sand, Loose Rock, Mogul and Rock - should keep you moving in even the toughest terrain.
Careful though, because the Invincible X comes with a host of exterior embellishments like chrome mirror casings, a chrome exhaust finisher and new 18-inch wheels. And probably some more chrome. Those inside are treated to full leather, triple-zone air-con, a Blu-Ray player and a "gaming rear-seat entertainment system".
The Invincible X Land Cruiser is available now, priced at £57,880 (or £1,950 more than a plain old Invincible). Course it's expensive for a Land Cruiser, but we remain rather pleased that such a 4x4 still exists in the world. Try one while you still can!
