Manthey Racing’s at it again. Having worked its magic on the regular 992-gen Porsche 911 GT3 a few years ago, slashing four seconds off the base car’s blistering six-minute 59-second Nurburgring lap time, it’s finally gotten around to giving (what’s supposed to be) the more understated Touring variant the same treatment.
The GT3 Touring remains a wingless wonder with the outfit's upgrades bolted on, but the new Manthey Kit does claw back some downforce with a deeper front splitter, extra floor-mounted turning vanes around the front wheels and a reworked rear diffuser with carbon fibre strakes. And, like the regular Manthey GT3, there’s a carbon fibre ‘aero disc’ that can be bolted onto the (also optional) lightweight Weissah-style 20-inch wheels, with all four rims combined saving 7.3kg. No word on just how much extra downforce the upgrades bring, but Manthey Kit-equipped GT3 Tourings should feel even more planted at higher speed.
Along with the aero improvements, there's a raft of chassis upgrades. Chief among them is the company’s coilover package, comprising four-way adjustable, aluminium-bodied dampers with new front and rear top mounts, plus there’s an optional brake kit with heavy-duty pads and braided lines for track use. On top of that, the outfit will replace the standard door sills with its own Manthey-branded (and very cool) illuminated trim, while a decal set with subtle logos at the base of the doors can be slapped on for an additional fee.
A 911 S/T on a budget, then? Well, not quite. The GT3’s 4.0-litre flat-six is untouched, meaning 510hp at a sky-high 8,400rpm and 347lb ft at 6,100rpm, but that's still only 15hp shy (and 4lb ft more) than the RS-based S/T. Manthey hasn’t revealed how much this all costs either, but expect to budget an extra 50 per cent on top of the price of the car. Alternatively, the suspension and brake kits, as well as the lightweight wheels, can be bought individually if you’re not keen on going the whole hog. You could also just bag a branded tow hook and tell your track day mates that you’ve had all the Manthey work done. Just make sure they don’t poke around underneath or peer into the wheel wells…
