There has been some considerable excitement around the PH office this week at the discovery of a genuine factory Broadspeed Jaguar XJ12C
for sale
. It has to be one of the most iconic touring cars ever, doesn't it?
So to mark the occasion, here's a desktop wallpaper to accompany it. Given the car raced 40 years ago for just two seasons, it is rather tricky to find images of the big Jag. Fortunately LAT has rescued us, this XJ12 pic from the 1975 Tourist Trophy at Silverstone with Derek Bell on driving duty. Fortunately it's a great shot too, broad haunches in full view and the car just loading up on its tyres as it sweeps through the bend. No doubt the noise would have been something special too.
Sadly this wouldn't quite fit into the mobile wallpaper skin but, fear not, it still features Derek Bell in an XJ12C. Here it's a Shelsley Walsh in more recent times, looking like it might just demolish the hillclimb on its ascent. What a driver, and what a car! Now, about that one for sale...
