Anyone who's ever read those used buying articles in the more specialist magazines, or on our website, will know from looking at the picture of this £22,000 Bentley that at some point the writer is bound to mention one fact. That all this car - such character, such performance, such sheer style - can be had for the price of a rather more, er, humble, modern car, like a new Nissan Juke, for example.
Not me, though. Never one to resort to lazy journalism, I will instead outline over the following 300 words what wonders this Arnage T has on offer. What you might achieve with it, what an investment it might be, what fun you could have with it, and how you could have it for the price of a... oh no, no, sorry.
So, if, for some reason, you are not instantly attracted to this prime rump of butch British steak, let's start with the obvious fact that this imperious Arnage has old-school appeal by the bucket load. Considerable reserves of power, too. Underneath that elegant bonnet is a 459hp twin-turbo 6.75-litre V8 producing a colossal 646 lb ft of torque, strong enough to waft this 2.5-tonne luxury monster from zero to 60mph in just 5.5 seconds. And that's not all - it'll carry on accelerating, locomotive-like, all the way up to 170mph. In fact this is, thinking about it, possibly your only chance to buy a road-going version of the Mallard. Somewhat surprisingly, it corners pretty well too, despite its bulk, and if you have the requisite skills you can even set it up in a nice, long, soothing drift.
Inside is a surprisingly intimate cocoon of leathery opulence, with all the usual wood trimmings. Bits might fall off it here and there but that's all part of the Bentley charm.
This one looks like a good 'un though. A smidge under £22,000 buys you a 2005 car with a mere 116,000 miles on the clock. It is what some people might call fully loaded too, with every conceivable luxury, and perhaps most importantly of all a full Bentley service history. Yes, it'll cost you a fortune to run, and no, it doesn't handle like a Civic Type R, but what you have here is an unmissable opportunity to buy into a dying breed of British Bulldog sensationalism - and all for the price of a new Nissan Juke. Oh bugger!
