Thorpedo lurks behind Walden's Tuscan
Black Cat Racing has announced a tie-up with recently formed Castle Race Engines (CRE). CRE will be preparing engines for the Rover V8-powered Tuscan driven by well-known racer and PistonHeads reporter Graham Walden, in the TVRCC Challenge class of the 2006 TVR Challenge.
Team crew chief Ian Walden said: "In the past we've done everything in-house, including building, preparing and running the car. As a part-time team, time is in short supply so the engine has been left relatively standard. Now we have a professional preparation company looking after our engines we hope to make up some of our bhp deficit while maintaining reliability."
CRE's Jamie Rogers brings years of experience preparing race engines and cars, and will not only be looking after the engine but also advising on setup and helping run the car at selected rounds.
"We are pleased to be partnering Black Cat Racing this year in the TVRCC, it hopefully won't be too long before we start seeing the results of a successful partnership", said Rogers.
Driver Graham Walden said: "This year were looking at some exciting races with lots of different TVRs all on track at the same time. I'm looking forward to renewing the battle with Marc Hockin and his five-litre Griff and, given half a chance, we'll see if we can mix it with the much more powerful AJP Tuscans. The partnership with Castle Race Engines will let me concentrate on the driving rather than having to think about engines."
With the 2006 season shaping up to be a blinder it should be great to watch, and hopefully the Black Cat Racing / Castle Race Engines Tuscan will feature heavily.
As last year, Graham will be reporting on the racing for Pistonheads and you should even be able to catch up on the action on Men and Motors.
