The fabled M3 CS and its M4 successor, sat under a moody Welsh sky and perfect for your desktop!
We make no excuses for featuring these two fantastic BMWs after their weekend of feature slot fame. After all, with BMW's ever-diversifying range not exactly finding unanimous support, it's nice to be reminded that the core M product is as good as ever.
Furthermore, despite the advance of turbos, dual-clutch gearboxes and chassis technology, it was heartening to see the new CS stick with so much of what made the old car such a hit. Essentially the M4 is still a 1,500kg (or so) coupe with a straight-six under its bonnet and rear-wheel drive, with an M differential helping distribute power across those wheels. As discovered in the comparison feature, this latest CS has come to represent perhaps the best offering of the model cycle, too, just like the E46, and arriving as the generation's swansong.
Bring all that together with the fact that both CS BMWs look superb - stance aggressive, intent clear and proportions spot on - and there's no further justification required. One would look great, but we'll spoil you with both - long live the M3! Oh yeah, and M4, of course...
