A new Vantage GTE has been shown this week, so there's no better time to celebrate its predecessor
Talk about big boots to fill. Not only does the new roadgoing Aston V8 Vantage have to replace one of Aston's prettiest ever cars, the GTE racer must follow a tremendously successful motorsport effort. 2017 was in fact a great valedictory year for the GTE, a Le Mans class victory eventually superceded by a World Endurance Championship GTE Am title for both drivers and teams. Some way to go...
Its last ever event was at Bahrain last weekend, where this fabulous picture is from. While the new car certainly has presence, there is something sad about the passing of that lovely Vantage rump. As GT sportscars go, this must be one of the prettiest ever. So what better way to freshen up your desktop?
This picture comes from Drew Gibson, WEC snapper and all round top lad. He has a Racing Puma, for example. He has collated a series of gorgeous shots from this year's championship into a 2018 calendar, which would make an ideal present for the motorsport fan in your life - more info here.
