Yes, PH has previous with Wales Rally GB and Pic of the Week, but we make no apologies for that. For decades it has delivered incredible end-of-season drama, as if purpose built racers blasting through Welsh forests wasn't exciting enough. Think 1998, when Sainz lost a title right at the very last even though it seemed nothing could stop him. And 1995, when McRae of course took that iconic championship. Don't forget 2003, either, where Rally GB played host to an epic showdown that saw Petter Solberg beat Sebastien Loeb to the WRC by a single point.
This year promises much of the same (even if it's not quite the end of the campaign), with championship leader Thierry Neuville on 177 points, Ott Tanak in second on 164 and Sebastien Ogier still there on 154. Three teams, three cars and three nationalities, all still in with a shot with not long left of the season. Who says modern WRC isn't worth watching?
To mark the weekend, here's a new desktop wallpaper courtesy of last year's event. It's got everything you could want from a Wales Rally GB pic: incredible scenery, hardy fans, and a rally car at pace on a gravel track. The sun is even out, a rare if welcome star of the rally - no pun intended.
More than enough to leave our appetite whetted for the weekend, and hopefully yours too - it looks like being another cracking WRC run in!
