History: -

Launched in May 1994 the Berlinetta was launched with a 6-speed manual, which is often debated as the transmission of choice. However, in 1997 the 355 Berlinetta was the first-ever road car to be equipped with the innovative F1-style gearbox management system, the technology of which was derived from the Ferrari F1 team at the time.

The gearbox is exactly the same as the 6-speed manual however it has the added advantage of being electro-hydraulically operated by steering wheel paddles. This allowed the gearbox to shift gears much quicker than a manual enhancing the car's performance, especially on track. It also makes for an easier life if you live in a city.

The F1 is also rarer being 1 of just 1,042 cars made from a total of 4,871 Berlinettas.

This particular 355 was originally supplied new by Maranello in Surrey on the 3rd of August 1998, just making it an S prefix registration in the UK. This stunning 355 has to be one of the best available currently, having only covered a very modest 23k miles from new supported by a comprehensive history folder with old MOTs and invoices. Importantly the car benefited from a full-service mid-way through 2020 where the engine was removed so the cambelt and all auxiliary drive belts could be changed. It also had oil, all filters, spark plugs and a thorough inspection carried out, meaning the car wants for nothing and is ready to be enjoyed when the lockdown ends.

Interestingly this car has some nice original features, such as the original Ferrari CD player/radio, essential for the purist collector, but also factory options added which enhance the car's appeal versus the other.

From factory this car has the optional carbon bucket seats, a vastly expensive option back in 1998, the challenge rear grille which really enhances the view of the car from the rear, shields on the wings, Brembo cross drilled discs with red callipers, 4-point harnesses by Sabelt, a sports exhaust and a 320mm competition steering wheel which gives greater driver feedback.

The car is also complemented by a comprehensive and thorough service history from main dealer Ferrari mostly. The current owner has maintained this car regardless of cost, only drives it in dry weather and parks the car in a climate-controlled carcoon when not being used. The car also comes with luggage and an original Ferrari 355 cover.
