2009 Academy car, kit built from delivery in Nov 2008, registered in Feb 2009 follow post build check-up with Caterham, and took part in the 2009 Academy in the hands of Dean Carr. Wasn’t specifically a front runner, more of a gentleman racer from what I can tell, and the car was retired from racing at the end of the Academy. Has therefore spent most of its life as a road car.
1st owner Dean Carr sold the car at the end of 2009, and was bought by elderly enthusiast who only used the car sparingly. I acquired the car in April 2015 with 4k miles, as the 3rd owner, as supported by the V5. My second Caterham, having previously owned a 1600 Vauxhall Live Axle, I was specifically looking for an ex-Academy Sigma with limited racing history, for the full cage, Tilletts etc. but without the damage and wear of a full on ex-race car.
Car has original aluminium panels, original Caterham Orange paint, with black nose band and stripe, nose had been replaced with a plain black item, following an off in the Academy (which I then had painted to match the bonnet stripe and original nose band setup), wheel arches are plain black gel coat, likely originals, with some star cracks, but nothing major.
Full paperwork file supports the work I`ve had done, including in 2015 full belts (inc cambelt) and fluids change at SW Lotus, and following annual services, initially with SW Lotus, and more recently Matt Blyth Motorsport (Caterham specialist). In 2021 it had subsequent cambelt change (precautionary at 6 years), water pump, and also had gearbox rebuilt (2nd gear had always been a little difficult, and wanted this sorted).
Mileage history can be seen through MOT check website, bringing it to the current 11k miles.
