Caterham Superlight
2004 S3 K series Superlight, R400 level specification — 400 bhp per tonne: this is 500kg car with 204bhp (with rolling road print out to prove), excellent condition, 16000 miles (with MOTs and service records to prove), two owners from new, full engine rebuild 2000 miles ago by Jason Langan of Hellier Performance (there is no better K-series engine builder), records for over over £15,000 spent over the last ten years with Caterham specialists, very high specification including:
1795cc 16 valve K-seres engine with dry-sump steel oil pump gear, vernier pulleys, re-mappable ECU. Dynamometer tested to 204bhp at 8100rpm, 150lbft at 6000rpm by QED.
6 speed Caterham gearbox (a £2995 option before being discontinued) — just the best shift.
Chassis with R500 aero front suspension, watts rear linkage and LSD.
Exceptionally light and rare Mike Barnby Magnesium 13’ wheels (with Avon XXS tyres).
Carbon fibre nose cone, wheel arches, dash, seats, and Racetec side-mirrors (on dedicated Caterham 7 carbon door mounts) and carbon aero screen for if you wish to replace the windscreen.
R500 titanium and stainless exhaust (sounds absolutely brilliant, but not so loud).
FIA approved roll-bar (not the full cage that means the roof won’t fit, but much more substantial and slightly taller than early ones.
Cowl mounted small rear view mirror — as per the original Lotus Seven, way better than the oversize stick-on standard windscreen mirror.
Unique slightly smaller front lights with integrated indicators (much prettier than the standard light combo) as fitted by The Seven Workshop (original lights with the car also for retro-fit if wished).
Also high mounted rear brake light, dash mounted change-up light, suede 12’ Sparco steering wheel (so much better than any original Caterham wheel), wind-deflector quarter-lights (for when running without doors), heater, heated screen, tonneau cover and good condition full roof with zip out rear screen also.
Full service history with Caterham specialists, few hundred miles since MOT in February (and every receipt and MOT kept from when new).
Not a garage queen — see images showing the carbon and aluminium patina which I love but could be polished out — but garaged all its life and really well maintained, and just the best Caterham specification ever being powerful but not temperamental and with the British designed and super zingy (and light) K-series and 6 speed box.
Selling after owning for ten years as its used less and less - but in no hurry and will miss it dearly :(
Car is in Diss on the Suffolk / Norfolk border, phone me if you are interested to know more (happy to do a video call walk around also) — having sold a classic car recently I’m done with email scammers.
