2002 MAZDA RX-7

This is a rare opportunity to own a truly unmodified, factory-spec RX-7 FD3S - a 2002 Type R Bathurst. It's one of the last RX-7s ever made, and unlike most on the market, this one remains completely original, mechanically and visually.

I bought the car in May 2023 and have spent the last couple of years going over it in detail to return it as close to factory condition as possible. When I bought it, the clear coat was starting to fail, so I had a full bare-metal respray carried out to bring it back to the standard it deserves. The result is sharp, deep paintwork that does the car justice.

Importantly, everything else has been kept exactly as Mazda intended. I've sourced all of the little parts that typically go missing or get swapped over the years things like the original radio, the toolkit, spare wheel cover, jack, and fragile interior plastics. It's now showroom-correct throughout.

Mechanically, it's stock and very healthy. Compression was tested just 100 miles ago with results of 107-108-108 and 106-104-103 at 251 RPM which is very strong for a rotary. I've recently serviced it using genuine Mazda filters and NGK plugs. There's no evidence of any tuning or modifications in its past just regular maintenance and a very thick file of documentation.

The car was imported into the UK in 2016 at 55,708 miles (89,654 km), and currently shows 59,384 miles. There's a very comprehensive Japanese service history (25 documented services) plus another 5 from a UK Mazda main dealer, along with import documents, MOTs, and supporting paperwork.

Underneath, the car is remarkably clean and virtually rust-free. The only mark against it is that I haven't yet replaced the tyres from when I bought it. They have plenty of tread, but the compound is ageing something I've priced in.

It passed its last MOT (next due May 2026), with a single advisory for rear pad wear. These will likely be changed soon.

There simply aren't many RX-7s left like this. Most have been modified, tracked, or chopped and changed over the years. This car has been carefully returned to a true stock state using original parts, many of which are no longer easy to find. I wouldn't claim it's concours, but it's without doubt one of the cleanest and most original examples currently for sale in the UK.
