Well specified and sorted driver's car in great condition for enjoying open-top motoring!
Background
This car is a well-sorted, quick, and enjoyable drive; a wonderful way to enjoy open-top motoring. I purchased it for use on classic car tours and have gradually developed it into to the well-specified vehicle it now is . I have owned several cars especially for classic regularity rallying, but this car was meant for ‘hi-days and holidays’, not for competition. Nonetheless, the basis of the TR4 is well-suited to spirited motoring so, over the years, performance and safety modifications have been made so as to make this a useable and very driver-friendly vehicle.
As it happens, the car has been used on two UK rallies when my usual rally car was not able to enter – a one day HERO Challenge (4th overall) and a 3 day HERO Summer Trial where we ‘won’, (having had the least penalties, but by virtue of the experience of the crew we were ineligible for overall awards!).
Otherwise, as planned, the car has done many one-day HRCR and local car club classic tours and, in 2022, the 3, 200 miles of the 14th Cape to Cape Grand Tour of UK and Eire, raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The previous owner spent a lot of time and money preparing the interior and body work which, whilst good, was never approaching concours condition. There is an extensive file evidencing this.
Over the past 12 years the car has always been garaged, often in a dehumidified air chamber. There is no rust, the chassis, sills and floor and body panels are in excellent condition.
Why am I selling it?? Well the answer is, sadly, that it is not getting the use that it warrants and, now in my late 70's, I probably need something cheaper and more modern to sit in the garage....... if anything.
